Aperture Priority
This picture was taken in aperture priority. Aperture is the opening of a lens's diaphragm which light passes through. Aperture Priority is when the camera decides and selects the shutter speed. To get a shallow depth of field you need to have a high aperture. To get a great depth of field you need a low aperture. Your shutter speed matters also, if you have a high aperture you are letting a lot of light through the diaphragm so that means you need a fast shutter speed. If you have a low aperture you need a high shutter speed to let more light in.
